Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. Your airport representative will meet and greet you. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy some free time.

Today you will visit Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover the network of underground tunnels while learning about their role in the Vietnam War. Later, enjoy a guided walking tour of Saigon where you will see Dong Khoi Street, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Palace, and Ben Thanh Market.

Venture to the Mekong Delta and spend the day exploring the many palm-fringed canals, local temples and markets. Enjoy a delicious lunch made from locally-harvested produce. Drive to Can Tho.

Make an early morning start to visit the floating markets of Cai Rang. Take a small boat and explore the waterways, packed with local people selling fruits and vegetables. In Chau Giang District see a tiny mosque serves the local Cham, originally Hindu, but now Muslim as a result of contact with Arab seafarers and merchants in the Middle Ages. Visit a beautiful Khmer temple, and the floating houses that double as catfish farms.

Board a speedboat to the Cambodian border and cruise along the Mekong River to Phnom Penh. Enjoy a river cruise along the Tonle Sap River and the mythical Mekong with scenic landscapes including floating fishermen villages, and a spectacular sunset over the Phnom Penh skyline.

Explore Phnom Penh by cyclo (a bicycle rickshaw). See Wat Phnom and the Royal Palace, the residence of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum. Visit the Central Market, a labyrinth of stalls selling everything from CDs and DVDs to silks, crafts, jewelry and more. Visit Tuol Sleng Museum, formerly a high school which became the interrogation and torture facility for the Khmer Rouge regime.

Along the way to Siem Reap, stop to visit the infamous Spider Market in Skun and Naga Bridge in Kampong Thom.

Start early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Angkor Wat temple, followed by breakfast at a local restaurant. Reach the southern gate of Angkor Thom, the ‘Great City’ and marvel at the imposing 23m (75-foot) high stone faces, featured in the Tomb Raider movie. At the centre lies the 12th-century state temple of Bayon, with hundreds of gigantic stone faces. Witness a monk blessing at a pagoda nearby the temple, a truly wonderful and memorable ‘real life’. Ta Prohm is unforgettable due to the massive trees with thick roots that entangle the walls.

Leave to Kampong Kleang floating village and take a boat trip through the fishing villages across Tonle Sap, the biggest lake in Southeast Asia. In the afternoon enjoy an excursion to Banteay Srei, consecrated in 967 A.D. built in red sandstone with elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable in fine details today. On the way back we will see Banteay Samre temple.

Drive to Poipet and across the Thailand border. Your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Bangkok.

Visit the Grand Palace or Wat Phra Kaew, known as the temple of the Emerald Buddha, the most sacred Buddha image in Thailand. Then visit Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s oldest and largest temples which houses the gigantic gold-plated Reclining Buddha. Explore Rattanakosin Island, the original area of Bangkok when it was first established as the capital over 200 years ago. Take a longtail boat on a canal (klong) tour along the Chao Phraya River with a stop at the dazzling Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun).

Enjoy a free day at your leisure. Time enough for a last minute shopping spree in one the many shopping malls throughout Bangkok or just relax and take a break at the hotels swimming pool companied with a spa treatment.

It’s time to say goodbye, but just think of all the wonderful stories you will take home. A transfer will take you to the airport for your onward travels.

Fly from Danang to Hanoi and discover Hanoi’s must-visit sites including the Ho Chi Minh complex, the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the “Hanoi Hilton.” Pay a visit to the Temple of Literature. End with a visit inside the Opera House and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea.

Drive past scenes of traditional rural life from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay. Board a well-appointed junk boat, enjoy a delicious lunch and begin cruising among the 3,000 islands which rise from the sea. In the evening, retreat to your private cabin, or relax on the main deck or at the bar.

Take part in a sunrise Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck before enjoying brunch on board. Upon arrival back in port, transfer to your hotel in Hanoi. Take a walking tour to visit the old quarter and a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake before joining your group for a farewell dinner.

Fly to Luang Prabang. Start your tour with a visit to Wat Xiengthong, and by walk to Phou Si Mountain. Take part in a traditional Baci ceremony. Hop on a tuk-tuk for your dinner at Bamboo Experience.

Rise early to see the locals giving morning alms to the orange-robed monks. After breakfast take a walking tour to local market for some snacks. Visit Wat Mai and the National Museum. Cruise the Pak Ou caves, have picnic lunch, and play the local favourite game of petanque. Finish with sunset drinks.

Visit Kuang Si waterfalls and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap. In the evening be entertained by Phare, The Cambodian Circus where the performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern.

You will take the small boat through the flooded mangrove forests fostering a variety of wildlife. Go back in time with Khmer ancient culture in a spectacular performance while you enjoy the finest cuisine in town.

On arrival in Hanoi, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time until your tour briefing.

Escape Hanoi city and embark on a journey to the unique ancient village of Dong Ngac. Explore the village by bike with a stop at the local market to purchase fresh ingredients for lunch. Visit the historic Communal House and gain an insight into local life as you chat with our host from the local Do Clan residing in the Ancestral House. Put your culinary skills to the test and take part in a cooking class, savouring your creations for lunch before the return drive back to Hanoi.

Spend the morning exploring a few of the unique sites of Vietnam’s capital city. Visit the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the “Hanoi Hilton Prison”, stop in to see the Temple of Literature and wander through the expansive Ho Chi Minh Quarter. Enjoy some free time before transferring to the Fanxipan Overnight Train to begin your journey to Sapa. Enjoy your stay for the coming evening on the Fanxipan Overnight Train (or similar).
Start early as you arrive into Lao Cai Station before transferring to your hotel. Enjoy breakfast before starting your guided walking tour as you visit the Lao Chai & Tan Van villages, nestled peacefully in the valley of Muong Hoa. Spend time meeting the Black H’mong people of the Hau Thao and Saseng villages as you observe daily life. Embark on a light trek to Ta Van Hoa Valley, admiring the beautifully terraced rice paddy fields and stunning vistas.
Begin your day with a drive to the remote Ban Khoang village, home of the Red Dzao people. Enjoy a walk through the village as you learn of their traditional values, unique culture and remarkable way of life. Continue on to Ta Giang Phinh valley to visit some of the smaller local villages and gain an insight into local life, before stopping for lunch. Begin your return drive to Sapa.
Enjoy a leisurely drive through the mountainside. Stop at the Silver Waterfalls before continuing on to Tram Ton Pass, also known by the locals as “Heaven’s Gate”. Trek through the rice fields overshadowed by the expansive Hoang Lien Son mountain range. As your return trek begins, visit O Quy Ho, a local village farm where a variety of speciality produce, flowers and medicinal plants are grown. As evening approaches, transfer to Lao Cai station to board your overnight train. Enjoy your stay for the coming evening on the Fanxipan Overnight Train (or similar).
Arrive early into Hanoi and savour a local breakfast with you fellow travellers. Drive to the picturesque city of Ninh Binh with its stunning network of rivers and rice paddy fields and hundreds of limestone monoliths. Visit the ancient city of Hoa Lu and admire the beautiful surrounds with a boat ride in Trang An, rowing through the expansive network of caverns and grottos. Spend the rest of your day free at leisure.
Set out this morning for a drive Halong Bay. Explore one of Vietnam’s stunning natural wonders as you board a beautifully appointed junk boat. Enjoy a delicious lunch on board before spending the afternoon discovering the many hidden gems of this unique and peaceful region. In the evening, retreat to your private cabin, or relax on the main deck or at the bar. Overnight on-board Bhaya Cruises (or similar).
Watch the sun rise as you enjoy Tai Chi on the sundeck. Relish in a delightful brunch on board before cruising back to port to disembark and drive back to Hanoi. This afternoon, enjoy some free time before meeting with your group to share a farewell dinner.

Itinerary

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight meet your fellow travellers over welcome drinks while your Tour Leader explains some important details and logistics of the journey ahead.

Today experience the charm of Hanoi. Drive past some of Hanoi’s unique sites including Long Bien Bridge, St Joseph’s Church & the Opera House. Continue with a walking tour through the fascinating Old Quarter – 36 ancient streets where you can observe the daily bustle of life around the markets where peddlers continue to trade as they have done for centuries. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, dedicated to the father of modern Vietnam – Uncle Ho, to see his mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, his ‘house on stilts’ and the One Pillar Pagoda. A short drive to observe the Citadel & Flag Tower which was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010.
After lunch at KOTO restaurant continue with a visit to the Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first university now dedicated to Confucian worship. Visit the Women’s Museum which gives you a fascinating insight into the lifestyle, culture and customs of Vietnamese women. Also visit Tran Quoc and Ngoc Son Temples then the “Hanoi Hilton” – the nickname given to the place where captured U.S pilots were imprisoned during the Vietnam War – now converted into a small museum before returning to your hotel.

Note: The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays; The Ho Chi Minh Museum & the Citadel are closed on Mondays.The Presidential Palace can only be viewed from the outside. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum has annual maintenance normally from September for 2 to 3 months and can only be viewed from the outside. All other sites in the Ho Chi Minh complex are still accessible during this period

This morning travel some 90kms south to you Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam dating back to the 10th century. Visit the famous sanctuary of Dinh Tien Hoang, a former emperor of the Dinh Dynasty, and the temple dedicated to the Le Emperor. Following the demise of the Le dynasty the capital was moved to Ha Noi. After lunch (own expense) we visit the Trang An Landscape Complex. A spectacular landscape of limestone karst peaks permeated with valleys, many of them partly submerged and surrounded by steep, almost vertical cliffs. Exploration of caves has revealed evidence of traces of human activity over a continuous period of more than 30,000 years. Recently awarded UNESCO world heritage status we take a small boat through this magnificent area. Continue to Ninh Binh for your overnight stay.

Marvel at the towering limestone karsts and vast paddy fields as you make your way from Ninh Binh to Halong City, the gateway to Halong Bay. Dotted with 3,000 limestones karsts, Halong Bay is one of Vietnam’s stunning natural wonders. Board a beautifully appointed junk boat and begin to cruise the impressive emerald waters of Halong Bay. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch before stopping to explore the many secluded corners of the bay. In the evening, retreat to your private cabin, or relax on the main deck or at the bar.

Rise early to enjoy a Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck, or choose to relax and take in your final moments in this majestic location before feasting on a delicious buffet brunch. After disembarking, drive back to Hanoi for your onwards flight to the former imperial capital of Hue, situated on the banks of the Perfume River.
Depart your hotel for your half day tour of Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. View the tomb of the fourth emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty Tu Duc set beautifully amongst lakes & frangipani trees. Continue with a stop at Bunker Hill overlooking the Perfume River with panoramic views of the plains that stretch towards the mountains in the west. & then a brief stop at the Tiger Colossium. Next we explore the impressive home of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors – the Citadel. Graded as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993, much of the Citadel was destroyed during the Tet Offensive in 1968 but is gradually being restored. We finish with a short drive to the much-revered Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s oldest and most beautiful. After lunch (own expense) depart Hue for Hoi An over the beautiful Hai Van Pass – Vietnam’s geographical and psychological boundary between north and south. The peak of the pass lies perpetually shrouded in clouds. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for check-in. This evening is free for you to explore Hoi An at leisure.
Early morning departure by bike for a ride to Cam Kim Island. Cycle for about 13km mainly on small paved paths in the middle of the island, through rice and corn fields, passing by beautiful hamlets. Visit Kim Bong carpentry village where traditional skill sets have been utilized for a long history of building boats, beautiful wooden houses and furniture in the old town dating from the 18th century. Experience a family making noodles and rice paper in the village. Proceed to Tra Nhieu fishing village, where you talk with the family about lifestyle and tradition you can have fun with a fisherman by trying to cast a fishing-net for fish, shrimp, and crab. Finally, you will take a boat for 1-hour boat trip from Tra Nhieu village back to Hoi An town. In the afternoon, begin your walking tour of this UNESCO world heritage site. Hoi An was once Vietnam’s most active trading centre and over many centuries the Old Town has been largely preserved. The architecture of the city reflects the influence of Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, French and British traders. Hoi An is also the town where French Missionary Alexandre De Rhodes introduced Catholicism to Vietnam as well as the Romanised script that has become the standard Vietnamese script. Walk through the streets of enchanting Hoi An and visit a traditional ancient house, the Hoi An Museum, a Chinese Assembly Hall, Chau Ong pagoda and the Japanese Covered Bridge. The tour will end in Hoi An Ancient Town where you can enjoy more time at your leisure.
Drive to Danang before flying to Saigon, Vietnam’s commercial capital. Upon arrival journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover the network of underground tunnels while learning about their role in the Vietnam War. The majority of the network has been recreated above ground however you will have the option to head underground & experience what life was like below the surface. Return to Saigon and spend the remainder of day at leisure enjoying the various sights and sounds of the boisterous city.
An early morning departure from your hotel takes you to Cai Be, deep in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Embark on your wooden boat to explore the Mekong Delta’s unique market and, also the symbol of the region, Cai Be floating market. This is not the biggest floating market, but it is good to understand the life of the river, one of the tourist magnets of the Mekong Delta. Just only 2 hours away from Saigon, beautiful countryside sceneries and surprisingly hospitable people are waiting for you. Board our traditional boat at the local Cai Be pier and start cruising along the floating market while sampling our tropical fresh fruits, letting the cool breeze touch your hair, you will find the place a truly destination to spend the day relaxing. You will be surprised by the way the locals trade and advertise their products. Disembark the boat temporarily to explore deeper about the local life by visiting the town’s business and craft factories. Have fun with a leisure sampan ride through canals before we transfer you to an ancient house where a delicious home hosted lunch with Mekong’s specialties awaits. After lunch, continue to cruise upstream the Mighty Mekong toward Vinh Long. Along the way, you will observe the typical Mekong Delta rural local life with stops at a local brick & pottery making factory and a floating fish farm before we take you back to the mainland where your car already waiting to take you back to Can Tho for overnight.
Can Tho is a university town on the confluence of three rivers in the heart of the delta. The Mekong Delta was once part of the Khmer Kingdom, and today many ethnic Khmers still live here. You make an early start this morning to visit the floating markets of Cai Rang which are in full swing at 0700. You’ll take a small boat and explore the waterways, which are packed with people who have come from the surrounding rural areas to sell all manner of fruits and vegetables. It’s a lively and colorful scene. Return to Saigon by mid-afternoon for check in to your hotel. This evening, join your group for a farewell dinner.
Depart from your hotel for a morning walking tour through the heart of Saigon’s famous and historic city landmarks including Dong Khoi Street, the Rex Hotel, Municipal Theatre, Hotel de Ville, Nguyen Hue Boulevard, Post Office & Notre Dame Cathedral. Your vehicle will then take you to the site of the former US Embassy (now the US consulate) before visiting the impressive Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. Later travel to Binh Thanh district and visit Ba Chieu local wholesale market in the East of Saigon, before visiting the Ngoc Hoang (Jade Emperor) Pagoda. This popular 124-year-old pagoda, houses a number of intricate sculptures and woodcarvings. Return to your hotel where your tour ends. A transfer will take you to the airport for your onward travels.

Enjoy a guided tour of the city’s sites including Emperor Tu Duc’s elaborate tomb, Imperial Palace, Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda. From Hue, drive to Hoi An, admiring some of Vietnam’s most stunning scenery along the way. On arrival in Hoi An, check into your hotel and enjoy an afternoon of independent exploration.

Take a 30 minute bicycle ride to Tra Que herb village. Walk around the vegetable garden and hear the history of the village. Join gardening activities in preparing the land, fertilizing with seaweed, raking the ground, sowing, watering & picking vegetables. Enjoy a foot soak before getting to prepare lunch at a local restaurant inside the village. Participate in cooking local delicacies such as ‘Tam Huu’ spring roll, ‘Banh xeo’ – a local pancake. Drive to Danang before flying to Saigon, Vietnam’s commercial capital. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Take a moment to freshen up before your journey continues to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover the network of underground tunnels while learning about their role in the Vietnam War. Return to Saigon and spend the remainder of day at leisure.

Venture to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta, known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam. Board a boat to begin your exploring the Mekong River as well as the narrow canals. Visit local factories and take a pedicab for a delicious local lunch. On your return drive to Saigon, stop by a Cao Dai pagoda with its spectacular architecture and vivid colours. Arrive back to Saigon to join your group for a farewell dinner.

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Saigon. Wander along Dong Khoi Street, admire the grand architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, stop at the Reunification Palace, and get lost amongst the many stalls and vendors within Benh Thanh Markets. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

Itinerary

On arrival in Hanoi, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time until your tour briefing and welcome drinks with your fellow travellers.

Spend the day discovering Hanoi’s must-visit sites. Stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of Hanoi City and Dong Xuan market. Continue to Ho Chi Minh complex comprising of Ba Dinh Square, Presidential Palace (outside photostop) & private residence from 1954 to1969 as well as the One Pillar Pagoda founded in 1049.
After lunch at a local restaurant continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnams first university. Visit Hoa Lo Prison – also known as “Hanoi Hilton”, St Joseph’s Cathedral and the Opera House ending the tour with afternoon tea.

Drive past scenes of traditional rural life as you journey from Hanoi to Halong City, the gateway to Halong Bay. On arrival, board a junk boat and begin cruising among some of the 3,000 limestone karsts. Enjoy a delicious lunch as you cruise through the pristine, turquoise waters of this stunning natural wonder.

Continue your exploration of Halong Bay before enjoying brunch on board. Cruise back to port for disembarkation, before you drive to Hanoi for your onwards flight to Danang. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the charming town of Hoi An. Enjoy an evening of free time.

Explore the riverside town of Hoi An on a walking tour. Visit the many sites and discover the mix of Chinese, Japanese and French influenced architecture. Visit a traditional ancient house, a Chinese Assembly Hall and the Japanese Covered Bridge. The afternoon is free for you to do as much or as little as you like. Choose to explore the old town, have a tailor custom make a new wardrobe or cycle to An Bang Beach

Enjoy more free time in Hoi An before flying to Saigon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for check in and enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

From Saigon, drive to Cu Chi and discover the network of underground tunnels and their significance during the war before returning to Saigon. After lunch join a guided walking tour and discover the rich history of this spirited city as you visit some of its main attractions including the former Presidential Palace, Catholic cathedral of Notre Dame, Post Office, Opera House & Ben Thanh market.

Transfer to Can Tho and board your boat to begin your exploration of the Mekong Delta. Cruise past the many fields of rice or sugar cane on palm or fruit fringed canals and waterways. Mid afternoon enjoy a shore visit and discover the peaceful life in the countryside with an optional cycling tour. Enjoy a complimentary drink on returning to the boat before enjoying the sunset over the countryside.

After an early breakfast while cruising, visit the Cai Rang floating market by local boat before returning to Can Tho. Drive to visit Binh Thuy ancient house, a harmonious combination of the two cultures of the East and West following Feng Shui principles. Experience the luxury French style in a local ancient house.

After breakfast drive to Chau Doc. On arrival visit a beautiful Khmer Temple before continuing to experience life in the a floating house that doubles as a catfish farm then checking in at your hotel.

After breakfast travel by speedboat to the Cambodian Border. After clearing border requirements cruise along the Mekong River to Phnom Penh. After checking in to your hotel visit the Tuol Sleng Musuem and the Killing Fields memorial at Choeng Ek. Enjoy sunset drinks at the iconic Foreign Correspondent Club/Le Moon Bar overlooking the beautiful Mekong River.

Enjoy a morning cyclo ride through the backstreets of Phnom Penh. Discover Wat Phnom, the birthplace of the capital, the Royal Palace and its famous landmark, the Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum with its unique collection of Khmer art. Fly to Siem Reap.

Take a short bus ride to Angkor Wat and marvel at the silhouetted central spires at sunrise. Travel to Angkor Thom complex and see Bayon temple. Return to town for lunch before exploring Banteay Srei temple and Ta Prohm temple. In the evening, join your group for a farewell dinner.
